The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) gives teachers an accessible pathway to earning a higher income while remaining in the classroom, allowing them to make a greater difference in the lives of Texas students. TIA elevates the teaching profession and allows districts to celebrate their top performing teachers with compensation and recognition. Currently, six of the nine local school districts in our region participate in the Teacher Incentive Allotment. Teachers who receive a designation through TIA receive between $3K - $32K additional compensation every year for five years.

Texas law requires that educators pass appropriate tests to become certified teachers. There are a minimum of two exams every educator in Texas must take to receive certification: the TExES Content Test and the TExES Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) Early Childhood-12th grade exam.
The TExES Content Tests include elementary, middle, and high school core and individual subject examinations.
Depending on your subject area, you may be required to take additional content tests.
For example, educators seeking certification to teach PreK - 6 must also take the Science of Teaching Reading (STR) exam.
There are also special education, English as a second language (ESL), and bilingual education exams.
